MG RX-78 GP02A Gundam Model Kit

MG RX-78 GP02A

Description: This review is from: Gundam RX-78 Gundam GP02A MG 1/100 Scale (Toy)
The GP-02 is one of my personal favorite gundam designs ever. I ordered this kit when it first came out, but the results were mixed. The kit is a mix of some of BanDai's best and worst engineering ever.

The Good:

The shoulder binders: rock solid to this day, and the rocket nozzles move automatically whrn the binders are moved into flight position.

The accessories: the atomic bazooka and the cooling unit shield are fantastically detailed and excellently engineered. This was one of the first MG kits that BanDai put as much effort into the weapons as it did the mecha.

The Bad:

The hands: Fairly standard MG hands, meaning the posable hands are absolutely incapable of holding onto that massive shield. I was finally forced to basically glue the fingers in a gripping position to keep them from drooping and droping the shield.

The knees: This is one massive model for a 1/100 scale, but it has some of the tiniest polycaps making up the knee joints. You really need to apply some elmer's glue to the holes where the polycaps go in. Even so the knees were so loose that it led to basically having the kit pose with the legs straight or fall over. (Not that bad mind you as the kit still looks very menacing just standing there.)

All in all a mixed bag.
